“Chopped” Host Ted Allen Talks With HOPES About Dining Out For Life 2015

Celebrity food personality Ted Allen has been a spokesperson for Dining Out For Life for 7 years now.

To help Northern Nevada HOPES get the word out about Dining Out For Life, he called our Content Developer, Clint Demeritt, and talked about DOFL, food, food trucks and food photography, the progress of the fight against HIV, LGBT rights, National Public Radio, Portland street food and throwing fish at producers (for The Onion).

Here is a very simple way that all of us can make a meaningful contribution to this fight, just by doing something you do any day, which is going out to eat.” Allen told Clint. “It benefits chefs, it benefits restaurants, and it gives us a chance to try a new place.”

Allen first gained national fame as the food and wine specialist for the groundbreaking show “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.” Currently, he hosts “Chopped” and “All-Star Academy,” two hit cooking competitions shows on the Food Network. He won the extremely prestigious James Beard Award in 2012 for his work hosting “Chopped.” His latest cookbook is “In My Kitchen: 100 Recipes and Discoveries for Passionate Cooks.”
