Huge Thank You to UnitedHealthcare Health Plan of Nevada Medicaid!

UnitedHealthcare's $700,000 Donation Expands Maternal Care at Northern Nevada HOPES

Northern Nevada HOPES is excited to announce a transformative $708,092 donation from UnitedHealthcare Health Plan of Nevada Medicaid, fueling the launch of our enhanced OB/Maternal Care Program. This investment will expand access to critical maternal and infant health services, including prenatal, postpartum, behavioral health, and pediatric care, improving outcomes for families across Washoe County.

Addressing Urgent Maternal Health Needs

The CDC reports that the U.S. has the highest rate of maternal mortality among high-income nations, with Black women facing the most significant risks. This donation addresses these disparities by supporting access to comprehensive care for preventable conditions like gestational diabetes, preterm labor, and preeclampsia.

Building a Healthier Community

HOPES’ new program will provide essential services, including:

  • Behavioral Health for mental wellness during pregnancy and postpartum.
  • Comprehensive Prenatal and Postpartum Care to monitor health and prevent complications.
  • Pediatric Care to support healthy beginnings for children.

Dr. Faith Whittier, Chief Medical Officer at HOPES, said, “Our partnership with United Healthcare is vital in expanding life-saving maternal care, and we’re thrilled to deliver this support to those who need it most.”

Together, UnitedHealthcare and Northern Nevada HOPES are building a future where every expecting individual has access to quality care, creating healthier lives for mothers and infants across the community. This partnership paves the way for lasting health improvements in maternal and infant care.
